La Misère school hosts tree-planting activity at Maia Luxury Resort |07 June 2016
The La Misère primary school last week hosted a tree-planting activity at the Maia Luxury Hotel.
Present at the event were the general manager of Maia, Sebastian Berinato, the school’s headteacher Fatma Bibi, students, teachers and parents.
The activity was organised by the school in collaboration with the resort to plant medicinal plants at t
he hotel.
P1 to P6 pupils from the school were excited to save the environment by planting medicinal plants, which will become useful in the near future.
Before planting the medicinal plants, the children took part in a sponsored walk, which started at their school.
Head teacher Bibi stated that such activity will bring the La Misère primary school closer to the community.
She said the plants will be maintained by the children of the school as part of the ‘Listening School’ project in collaboration with the National Council for Children.
GM Berinato added that such a medicinal garden will encourage the staff and the hotel guests to learn more about medicinal plants.
The accompanying photos show the tree-planting exercise in progress before everybody joined in a souvenir photograph.
