Miss Seychelles contestants try out new crown |25 May 2016

The 12 young ladies vying for this year’s Miss Seychelles … Another World 2016 beauty pageant title got the chance to try the new 14 carat white gold crown.

Sponsored by JOUEL, this new crown will be worn by the winner of the pageant on Saturday night.

The crown trial ceremony was held at Jouel’s flagship boutique, Kenwyn House yesterday in the presence of its management, representatives of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) and the organisers of the pageant.

In 2006, Jouel was commissioned by the STB to design and manufacture a bespoke gold and diamond crown for the Miss Seychelles … Another World beauty pageant.

This crown has been the official crown from 2006 up until and including 2014 and is now returning after a year of absence to be the centrepiece of the beauty pageant.

This crown is made with 14 karat, solid white gold and contains white diamonds with a total karat weight of 2.50ct together with blue sapphires, topaz and pink tourmalines. It is valued at over 10,000 Euros.

Past crown bearers include Wendy Boniface (2006), Solana Domingue (2007), Elena Angione (2008), Sherlyn Furneau (2012), Agnes Gerry (2013) and Camilla Estico (2014).

Jouel’s range of jewellery combines glamour and elegant design and has seven jewellery collections, which embody the vibrant colours of exquisite forms and freedom of the paradise they originate from.

Its intricate jewellery is made up of diamonds, pearls, tanzanite, and other precious gemstones set in gold and silver.

Jouel has several outlets which can be found at the Mahé International Airport, Praslin Domestic Airport, Kenwyn House Victoria, Eden Plaza, La Plaine St Andre, Four Seasons, Ephelia Resort and Spa, Lemuria Resort and Spa, Maia Luxury Resort, Fregate Island Private, North Island, Alphonse Island and Avani Barbarons Resort and Spa.

STB’s chief executive Sherin Naiken said: “I thank Jouel for sponsoring the crowns once again and would also like to thank the previous sponsor, Jewel for the support and generous sponsorship given through the pageant last year.”

Ms Naiken called on other establishments and organisations to come on board as partners and follow the fine example that Jouel has taken.

Jouel’s general manager, Agnes Naidoo-Legras, said: “We are very happy and proud to announce that Jouel has returned this year as the official crown sponsor for the Miss Seychelles beauty pageant after a one year absence.”

Jouel has also sponsored the crowns of the first and second princesses.
