German couple presumed drowned at Intendance |25 May 2016
A German couple have died, presumed drowned at Intendance in the Takamaka district.
It is reported that the family who was residing at a tourist establishment in Au Cap but who had gone to Intendance, lost their lives yesterday morning while trying to rescue their two kids – aged 10 and 12 years – and their 17-year-old niece who were encountering difficulties while swimming.
The kids have been medically examined and they are safe.
The German lady, aged 47, was certified dead on scene at around 12.15pm while her 54-year-old husband was certified dead later at Anse Royale hospital.
The family arrived in Seychelles on May 14 and was supposed to leave on May 27.
The incident was reported to the police at around 11.45am.
An investigation is being carried out following this tragic incident.
Meanwhile the family’s relatives in Germany have been informed of the incident by the honorary consul for Germany in Seychelles Kirstin Henri.
