Basketball: Under 14 international tour |14 May 2016

Bouchereau shines for Seychelles and Mont Fleuri

Since the start of May, a group of under-14 Seychellois basketballers have had the opportunity to test themselves against the Ste Marie Basketball Club from Reunion who were in Seychelles on holiday.

The team of 11 players were given the opportunity to play four friendly games with some of our best under-14 teams – Mont Fleuri, Anse Boileau, Plaisance and the Seychelles under-14 selection.

One of the main aims of the tour was to give our young players some exposure and to also get these players to show the promise and one of them surely did.

Chris Bouchereau, who starred for Mont Fleuri secondary during the recent Zwe Lespwar Sesel, showed that he is one of the hottest prospects in Seychelles basketball at the moment when he finished as the top scorer for both Seychelles and Mont Fleuri in their games against Ste Marie.

In the Seychelles under-14 selection’s game against Ste Marie, which was in fact the opening game of the tour, Bouchereau was named as captain and he led from front as he scored 26 points including three 3-pointers, to help his team to a close-fought 45-43 win.

The youngster was not done yet though as he scored 19 points in his Mont Fleuri school team in their 40-51 loss to the Reunionais outfit. Here he went on a 13-point scoring run for his side in the second and third quarter of the game.

For the Reunion team, it was their number 8, Maillot, who was the best scorer in all four games.

In the other two games, Ste Marie claimed a 65-43 win over Plaisance with Maillot grabbing 15 points, while Sylvestre Cesar led Plaisance with 16 points.

Against Anse Boileau, Maillot managed another 15-points game as his team came out victorious on a 55-32 score.
