2015 both challenging and successful for Seychelles Police |31 December 2015

2015 has been a very busy, challenging and interesting year for the Seychelles Police Force which has been full of activities and events.

While some of these events had been planned others were not anticipated like the recent presidential election which went into two rounds, a first for Seychelles.

Nonetheless the police have also recorded remarkable achievements in various sectors like crime reduction, where they have been very successful.

These were pointed out by both the Minister for Home Affairs Charles Bastienne, who is also responsible for the police, and Police Commissioner Ernest Quatre during an end-of-year gathering to take stock of their performance.

This special event, which took place yesterday at the International Conference Centre (ICCS), was presided over by Minister Bastienne in the presence of high officials and officers of the Seychelles Police.

During the ceremony, officers who have served for 15, 25, 35 and 40 years in the force were awarded medals. Michel Antoine Tambara and Superintendent James William Matombe were the two officers with 40 years of service while Nepalese Ekaraj Pawan Subedi was awarded the medal of bravery for his heroic act of averting a potentially dangerous accident at Mont Buxton when he stopped a bus from plunging into a precipice.

There was also a Power Point presentation on the police force’s performance, empowerment and achievements this year.

The review meeting was animated by a song by PC Jacques Perreau entitled ‘Sikse Anver Mon Nasyon’. It ended with the traditional cutting of cake.
