Independent School donates to Seychelles Hospital |28 November 2015

On October 23 this year, 34 students and two staff members from the Independent School received treatment at the Seychelles hospital following a food poisoning incident at the school.

As a sign of appreciation, the students along with their parents have decided to donate a colour printer to the hospital’s Paediatric Ward.

It was the school’s head teacher Maybelle Celeste who presented the four-in-one printer – which also carries the functions of scanner, photocopier and fax machine -- to the hospital’s director Dr Loren Reginald in a short ceremony yesterday afternoon.

To help decorate the ward and render the young patients’ lives livelier, the students also presented the consultant in charge Dr Philip Govinden with a painting.

Their own creation, the painting depicts the children’s individual hand prints which have been turned into colourful fish.

The ceremony took place in the presence of other hospital staff and teachers from the Independent School.

Mrs Celeste said that through the devotion and professionalism of the hospital staff, the bad food positioning experience eventually turned into one of warmth, care, dedication, comfort and love.
“Your unwavering dedication to our children was something really big for us, it meant a lot for all of us. On that day, you touched the lives of the whole Independent School community, including the parents of the sick children,” she said.

On behalf of the Ministry of Health and the Health Care Agency, Dr Reginald thanked the Independent School for the gesture.

He said that the piece of equipment received will help alleviate the work burden in the Children’s Ward.
