Chess: Library week interschool championship |23 October 2015
International school dominates

Was it luck or pure might?
Either way, under the leadership of Samuel Nalletamby as team captain, the International School of Seychelles dominated proceedings in the Library Week interschool chess tournament that took place earlier this week.
Independent School was able to collect three straight victories over their opponents – Anse Royale, Beau Vallon and Mont Fleuri secondary schools – in the first, second and third rounds respectively.
Such results did not only boost their confidence but gave them a dozen points ahead, followed by the Independent School on nine points and Belonie secondary school after only three rounds of play.
The International School vanquished all their opponents in the seven-round tournament played on the Swiss system. Second was Pointe Larue and third Belonie. Each match lasted 20 minutes.
A total of 10 teams, including nine secondary schools and the Seychelles Chess Federation (SCF) primary school selection, took part in the event.
