Beau Vallon crèche gets educational materials |03 June 2015

The Diplomatic Spouses Association (DSA) has donated educational toys and learning materials to the Beau Vallon crèche.

The donation, which was handed over during a short ceremony at the crèche on Monday morning, comprises alphabet floor puzzles, homework helpers, giant floor puzzles, draw and write kit, and LCD projector and small plastic chairs.

Guest of honour at the event was the Minister for Education Macsuzy Mondon. Also present were Beau Vallon primary school headteacher Vivienne Preira, senior teacher Francine Souris, teachers and officials of the ministry.

Alla Belous, chairperson of the DSA, described the donation as a symbolic event as it fell on June 1, Children’s Day.

“Minister, we would like to assure you that the DSA will continue to cooperate with the Ministry of Education to assist schools and creches in any possible way,” she said.

The DSA has acquired paint and organised painting of the crèche buildings, manufactured and installed bookshelves and build-in sandpit, purchased carpet for a TV room, plastic chairs, educational toys, a projector for watching cartoons and educational programmes and an assortment of dictionaries.

“I believe that our contribution will enhance the learning environment not only for the children but for the teachers as well,” said Mrs Belous.
She then wished the kids a happy children’s day.

Thanking DSA on behalf of the Ministry of Education, Ms Souris said the educational toys and learning materials will surely enrich the quality of learning for the young pupils.
They will also make learning more interesting, thus allowing them to adapt to this modern age which is dominated by technology.

“The pupils will be in a better position to relate to the real world, because after all we are educating them to become responsible adults of tomorrow. I pledge our commitment to make maximum use of the donations to improve teaching and learning for the little ones,” Ms Souris said.

She expressed the ministry’s gratitude for the freshly painted crèche which she said will also add to a more conducive learning environment for the little ones.
