Football - Youth selections’ players rewarded |03 January 2015
Male players of the under 16 and 17 years old selections and their female counterparts joined together for a final gathering of the year on Tuesday.
The ceremony was held at the Seychelles Football Federation (SFF) headquarters at the Maison Football, Roche Caïman, where members of the teams were rewarded in the presence of their parents and members of the SFF.
The male under-16 and under-17 teams played against more-experienced players in the Barclays-sponsored leagues this year. The young team played in the third division while the under-17 side competed with teams in the second-tier league.
Gavin Jeanne, a representative of the SFF who has been working closely with the teams, said: “The federation is satisfied with the level of these young players as they have the necessary skills and commitment to compete at higher levels.”
He added that the under-17 players who as of next year will be playing in other clubs across the leagues, have the quality to compete for starting places at some of the top clubs in the country. Coach Jeanne noted that he is looking forward to seeing them in action.
The awards ceremony itself featured several prizes, where various members of the federation and management as well as coaching staff of both sides were rewarded for their hard work during the year.
