Football - Division two league still wide open |11 September 2014

The Barclays league division two has already got past the halfway mark and there is still no clear indication of who will be crowned champions and win promotion to the first division.

There are currently six teams with a chance of winning the league title or least making it to the play-off spot.
Pointe Larue-based St John Bosco currently top the standings with 27 points from 13 games played. They boast the league’s best attack as well as the best defence with 39 goals scored and only seven conceded.

Foresters occupy second place after 12 games played and they have 25 points with eight wins, one draw and three losses. They are followed by SPDF who have played a game more and have 24 points.

Newly promoted Perseverance have been very impressive in only their second year of existence. They lie fourth in the 10-team standings with 23 points after 13 games, but the statistics seem to point out some weaknesses in both their attack and defence. Coached by former Seychelles and St Louis striker Bernard Dorasamy, Perseverance, who despite being ranked fourth, have scored just 17 goals and conceded 16 so far.

The other sides still in with a chance of fighting for promotion are Au Cap (20 points and in fifth place) and Victoria City (19 points and in sixth place). Victoria City are also new to the division.

At the lower end of the table, Beau Vallon, the Under 17 selection, St Roch and Rude Boyz all face a battle against relegation.
