La Misère school celebrates Father’s Day |02 July 2014
Dad…
A son’s first hero, Daughter’s first love
To many of us this is and will always be the true picture of our father, the man who not only raised us but helped in making us who we are or who we will be. It is therefore fitting that such an important person in our lives are recognised and honoured.
For the occasion of Father’s Day in June, the female staff and pupils of La Misère primary school organised a special activity prepared for fathers.
The day started with each father being welcomed at the gate with specially made tags that read ‘Happy Father’s Day’.
Those who were able to stay and attend the special assembly were escorted to the dining room where they were entertained by the pupils with songs, poems and a sketch, all depicting the love that children have for their father.
The highlight of the assembly was the presentation of gifts to all the male staff of the school. They represent the father figure for the pupils and play an important role in their development.
Each received a memorabilia with a special message embedded on it. Surely this will serve as a reminder of their days at the school. To conclude artist ‘Regi’, who is a former student of La Misère, sang two of his most popular songs dedicated to the fathers.
Refreshments were also organised for them in the staffroom and the fathers present had the opportunity to socialise.
A film was also screened as one of the activities on the programme.
The female staff and pupils at the school take the opportunity to say thank you to all the fathers who made a special effort to attend the ‘Special Day’ at La Misère school. Rendezvous next year.
