Miss Seychelles 2014 sports day |23 May 2014
Contestants display their athletic prowess
The 12 contestants for this year’s Miss Seychelles ... Another World pageant recently took part in a sports day with the aim of finding a ‘Miss Sports’.
This event is especially important for the eventual winner who will represent Seychelles at the Miss World pageant, in view of the fact that Miss World contestants are also judged on their athletic skills.
The Miss World Sports or Sportswoman is a title and award given to the winner of a sports event at the Miss World. It allows the contestants to win points which are then added to their overall standings in the final judging.
For this sports day held for the local contestants, a number of sporting activities such as 100m race, 60m relay, long jump, high jump, egg and spoon race and a three legged race were on the programme.
Raphaella Dugasse saw victory in the standing jump competition while Marvel Godley won the egg and spoon 40m race and Ronda Sidonie came out first in the 100m race.
Just like all the other titles such as Miss Personality, Miss Photogenic etc., the winner of the Miss Sports title will be announced during the Miss Seychelles ... Another World 2014 crowning ceremony on May 31.
The girls still don’t know how many points they have each received for this sports event as the organisers want the title to come as a surprise for the girls on the night of the crowning ceremony.
The accompanying photos show the girls in action in some of the sports events.
