Ecole Française launches its first wildlife club |30 April 2014
The Ecole Française of Seychelles has launched its first ever wildlife club.
This took place in a small ceremony last Friday at the school.
The pupils of the CM2 class (equivalent to primary 5 with pupils aged 11 years) along with their class teacher Bruno Sassier are the initiators of the club christened ‘Paille en Queue’.
During the event the pupils educated their peers on the importance of water conservation and energy saving. The main aim of the event was to explain the importance of the wildlife club and get other students to join.
‘Save water, save energy, no pollution, protect nature’ were some of the inspiring messages the 11-year- olds passed on to the others, displaying true maturity.
So far the pupils have been involved in many activities such as cleaning up beaches and have taken part in the recent Earth Day activities.
The club will soon be conducting bird watching sessions, activities to do with the protection of corals and many more.
“It is very interesting to see that the kids are really concerned and want to make a difference,” said Mr Sassier.
The students will also be shooting a short educative video on keeping the environment clean.
