Three privates in the Seychelles People’s Defence Forces (SPDF) have been promoted to the rank of second lieutenants.
Connie Anthony, Barry Allisop and Sandy Moncherry received their new ranks from President James Michel in his capacity as the Commander-in-Chief on New Year’s Day during the annual gathering which was held at the Seychelles Coast Guard Base, Ile Perseverance.
Second lieutenant Anthony followed an 11-month officer cadet course in the United Kingdom while her two other colleagues followed the same course in Tanzania.
She is based at the Seychelles Coast Guard along with 2nd Lt. Allisop whereas 2nd Lt. Moncherry is at the Seychelles Defence Academy.
The newly promoted 2nd Lt. Anthony said the promotion means a lot to her and is proud of her results following her training in the UK.
“When I joined the military, I knew this was the place where I could get the chance to develop professionally,” she said.
