President’s New Year visit to the L’Exile army camp |04 January 2013
As this is a facility where media entrance is not permitted, we are today publishing some photos of this visit which were provided to us on Thursday.
The L’Exile army camp is the base for the Special Forces, which includes the Presidential Security Unit as well as the ‘Tazar’ Force.
The Tazar unit was created in November 2009 as part of this elite force for specialised commando operations, including anti-piracy operations.
During his visit, President Michel commended the Special Forces for their exemplary action and successful operations in the last year as well as precedent years.
Besides the visit to L’Exile, President Michel also visited the Seychelles Coastguard and the Seychelles Defence Academy.
A report on these visits was published in our Thursday issue.
