Tennis-Fatim Kanté resurfaces with win

Currently pursuing her tennis career in the United States under the auspices of the John BACK INTO BUSINESS … Fatim KantéNewcombe Tennis Ranch in New Braunfels, Texas, Fatim's most recent accomplishment came in the singles event of the San Antonio Adult open held on April 15 at the Mc Farlin Tennis Centre in San Antonio.

After getting past the round-robin phase, Fatim won by walk-over in the quarterfinal to reach the semifinal where she met Chelsea Horan, whom she defeated  2-0 (6-4, 6-2).

In the final, Fatim easily defeated Yuko Bautista 2-0 to win the women singles title. The set scores were 6-4 and 6-1.

In the women’s doubles, Fatim paired up with Jenn Farmer to lose 1-2 (6-7, 6-4, 4-6) to the duo of Emi Berghorn and Cynthia Locke.

Former Seychelles number one Fatim has been a member of the academy since January this year after dropping her Master's Degree in Accounting and Audit to pursue her dream of playing high level tennis. She studied at the University of Reims Champagne Ardenne in Reims, France from 2006 to 2009 to earn a first degree.

While in France, she played tennis with the Cormontreuil CTC club.
