Princess Anne to pay official visit to Seychelles

Her Highness Anne, Princess Royal

During her stay, she and President James Michel will officially open the University of Seychelles, the British High Commission and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a joint statement.

The royal programme will include visits to Praslin and Aldabra to view Seychelles’ two Unesco World Heritage Sites, and Princess Anne will also meet the Seychelles Coast Guard and members of the European Union’s naval taskforce in the country.

The programme is also expected to include a visit to a local children’s home with First Lady Natalie Michel.

British high commissioner Matthew Forbes said: “We are delighted that Princess Anne will be coming to Seychelles.

Together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Seychelles Tourism Board, we are organising an exciting programme that will show Her Royal Highness the real essence of Seychelles.

“We also hope it will allow as many Seychellois as possible to take part and welcome her.”

Minister for Foreign Affairs Jean-Paul Adam said: “The visit of a senior member of the Royal Family is always a welcome event and is indeed reflective of the strong bond that exists between Seychelles and the United Kingdom.

“I am confident that, given our shared history and all that Seychelles has to offer, the Princess will have a truly memorable trip.”
