Reggaeman Eric all set to wow local fans |28 May 2010
Tonight’s show will be at the International Conference Centre, and the singer said he is totally relaxed and “feels right at home” since Seychelles is so similar to Jamaica in many ways.
Mr Donaldson, who was speaking to the media on Wednesday afternoon at Le Méridien Barbarons Hotel, said he did not think he would get the chance to revisit Seychelles but is nevertheless very happy to have done it.
“I am very happy to be back, even if it is after seven years,” he said.
“I had a very good first impression of this place, which has not changed even after all this time.”
Since his last visit here, Mr Donaldson has been touring “here and there”, and – contrary to what some people have been saying – this is definitely not his last tour.
When asked about how he portrays himself, he says he sees himself as a messenger, bringing a message of love, peace and understanding to the world. And he wishes the world would take such themes more seriously, especially when done through music.
Mr Donaldson said he listens to local tunes and likes what he has heard. As for what the local crowd should expect from him, he said he will have a number of the most popular songs from his repertoire, as well as “a few of the newer ones”.
“I am going to give them all the songs they know and love, and I am still as active on stage as ever so I am looking forward to the shows as much as they are,” he said.
Apart from tonight’s show, he will perform at Praslin’s Oxygen nightclub tomorrow, and on Wednesday June 2 at the ex-SMB Hall, Roche Caïman.
On his plans for the future, he said he definitely intends to continue writing and recording music, but does not want to go into detail “just in case they do not materialise”.
