Orphanage children on Dubai holiday |20 April 2010
The three boys and three girls are accompanied by three adults on their trip, which has been made possible by sponsorship from the Maia Resort and Spa and Qatar Airways.
The resort’s general manager Frederic Vidal and the airline’s area manager Rose-Marie Hoareau were among those present at the airport to see the children off. Also there was Noella Gontier, the chief executive of the Children’s Homes Foundation – which oversees the orphanage.
During their time in Dubai, the children will be staying at sister hotels of the Maia Resort and Spa.
An initiative of Mr Vidal, the trip has been organised with the support of Qatar Airways, which has sponsored the air tickets.
Initially discussed with First Lady Nathalie Michel, chairperson of the Children’s Homes Foundation, – the project is in line with the hotel’s theme for last year, which was Year of the Child.
The children making the trip have been chosen for having shown an interest, improved their academic performance and also maintained good behaviour.
They are expected back in the country on Thursday.
