Homes for elderly receive electric thermo pots |17 March 2008
Also to benefit from the donation by Mr Liao are the President’s Village, the Anse Royale day care centre, the North East Point Hospital and the Youth Rehabilitation Centre, each of which got three of electric thermo pots.
The donation comprised a total of 36 electric thermo pots worth R25,000.
Mr Liao, who is the managing director of Exclusive Chinese Products, said he decided to make the donation because he felt the time had come for him to give back to the community now that he has become as Seychellois citizen. Initially he came to the country as an investor.
The director for the homes for the elderly, Roger Alphonse, who received the thermo pot on behalf of his institution, said that the donation came at a very opportune moment as the elderly homes did not have such equipment on site.
“The pots will be put in the common area of each home to make it easier for all the residents to gain access to,” he said.
The 125 residents of the Plaisance Home for the Elderly were the first to receive their electric pot since the ceremony was held on their premises.
Mr Liao said that he plans to make more donations to different institutions as the year progresses.
