Roche Caiman gets modern community facilities |19 June 2007
This is in line with President James Michel’s vision, which lays emphasis on appropriate working environment, “for the decentralization of services and collaboration between different sectors and agencies for better service delivery”.
This was said by the Minister for Community Development & Youth Vincent Meriton in his speech at the official opening on Saturday of the Roche Caiman’s District Administration offices and Community Centre facilities.
The ceremony, which formed part of activities to mark the 14th Anniversary of our National Day, was attended by President James Michel, who, along with the district’s administrator Wilbert Omath, had the honour of unveiling the plaque to inaugurate the facilities.
Other guests and invitees included Vice-President Joseph Belmont, Designated Minister Danny Faure, Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Herminie, cabinet ministers, the elected MNA for Roche Caiman Jeovanna Charles, and a proud crowd of Roche Caiman residents.
Noting that the government has always been attentive to the aspirations of each community in all districts, Minister Meriton said that “the government has spent over SR300 million in the last thirteen years in the development of communal infrastructure, which include district administration offices, community centres, daycare centres, homes for the elderly and other social and recreational facilities, for the welfare of its people”.
He added that the opening of the new facilities at Roche Caiman is a direct result of the commitment that government has made to continually invest in communal facilities in all districts, emphasizing that the new district administration facility at Roche Caiman is the first in a new generation style infrastructure that the government is counting on putting at the disposal of its people for the future.
Besides the standard office and recreational space, the new DA office and community centre at Roche Caiman comprise a modern computer room, a state-of-the-art games room which include various table games, a medium size auditorium and conference room.
In his speech for the occasion, DA Omath said that the new facility will now provide the various groups in the district with adequate space to reflect on the further development of the Roche Caiman district.
