Attended by many local hockey players, the ceremony was the occasion for the different winners of the various competitions organised during the season to be rewarded.
There were also individual awards for the best players coming from each team.
In the female junior category, Carlotta Marie of Au Cap and Laura Tirant of Hocknet were awarded the best player awards, while Marcus Laramé of Plaisance, Marcus Clyah of Anse Boileau, Fahad Nassar of Beau Vallon and Julio Fred of Au Cap were voted the best in the male junior category.

According to the SHF chairman Alex Souffe, the 2006 season was a very satisfactory one.
“There has been a lot of improvement and the level of play has also risen. Local coaches had the chance to improve their capabilities by following a level one coaching course and local teams again excelled internationally,” said Souffe.
The hockey chairman added the target for next year is to try and bring hockey into the school curriculum while the federation will work on initiating a youth league.
On behalf of the SHF, Mr Souffe thanked the National Sports Council (NSC) and Mohan Shopping Centre, their main sponsors for the 2006 season.
