Investment-Refrigeration and cooling equipment for ISPC Seychelles |05 October 2006

ISPC (International Sales and Promotions Company) is a well established company of over 40 years, leading the European market in the on-trade market. It specializes in supplying food and non-food items upon requests made by hotels, restaurants and cafés for operation purposes.

"The ISPC's 15,000 square meters facility in Breda and the 10,000 square meters in Ghent are incredibly impressive,” said Ambassador Faure.

He added that this venture is a great opportunity for the continuous development of the Seychelles’ tourism industry currently facing the challenge to find sustainable solutions to ensure that tourists’ expectations and needs, especially that of high profile tourists, are met.

ISPC International, which offers its 12,000 customers a range of over 70,000 products, consists of a network of more than 3,000 suppliers.

It manages a fleet of 50 trucks in Europe that covers certain areas in France, Italy, Spain, Holland and Belgium on a daily basis transporting live and fresh products for its customers.

ISPC has created a company in Seychelles which has received its operating licence number from SIBA since August 29.

According to Mr Faure, 10 out of 30 containers of refrigeration and cooling equipment are currently on the way to Seychelles and should reach Victoria within the next few days. The next batch will soon be shipped from the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp in due course.

A team of Belgian and Dutch engineers are already on Mahé, working closely with the local General Manager of ISPC Seychelles, Xavier Heinen, to identify potential local contractors to assemble the 1,600 square meters facility in SIBA warehouses.

"I fancy already the surprise of some of our Seychellois hoteliers when they will walk for the first time in this gigantic fridge that ISPC will soon be building, with walk-in refrigerated zones from + 20° C down to -18°C.," said Ambassador Faure.

“It is impressive!" he added. “All the products, such as dairy, fruits, vegetables, meat, etc. will be kept in their appropriate refrigerated environment alongside with wines, champagnes, crockery, specialized cleaning products, kitchen equipment, etc., but all of them are on display for the visitors, once inside.”

ISPC operates under the international HACCP standards and regulations which require permanent and extremely strict phyto-sanitary processes.

Assembling works at SIBA premises will start in October and the opening of ISPC Seychelles is scheduled for the beginning of December this year.

“I am pleased to say that this project has received all necessary permits and support from our finance, health and customs authorities as well as from STB, which guarantee a sound operation of this company in our country,” said Ambassador Faure.
