Miss Seychelles Islands 2006-Wendy Boniface is Miss Seychelles

Wendy Boniface wears the crown

A large crowd which included Vice-President Joseph Belmont, other guests and paid spectators watched the crowning of 20 -year-old Boniface, a student at the National Institute of Education who is aspiring to become a French teacher at secondary level.

Sheijnada Reinert, 17, and who also won the title for Miss Photogenic, was crowned second princess whereas Miss Regatta 2005, Dorothy Monthy, came out as the second princess.

Barbora Course and Nelcie Pierre received the Miss Personality and Best Evening Wear titles respectively.

 As prizes Miss Boniface received SR20,000, a return ticket any destination served by Air Seychelles, jewellery and weekend getaway.

Reinert went home with a voucher worth SR10,000, a return ticket to Maldives, weekend getaway, jewellery, among other prizes. She also clinched a return to ticket to Mauritius for her Miss Photogenic title.

Monthy received SR5,000, one return ticket to South Africa, a weekend getaway and jewellery.
The Miss Personality and Best Evening Wear titles brought the winners SR2,000 each.

Miss Boniface who told the press that she "is ready to take up all the responsibilities that are assigned to her during her reign as the Miss Seychelles 2006”, is expected to participate in the Miss Intercontinental pageant in three months’ time and in the Miss Universe next year.

Fifteen contestants paraded in their casual wear, swimwear and evening gown in the preliminary round and the judges selected ten finalists and later the top five contestants for the final round in their evening wear.

Veronique Francourt, Wendy Boniface, Dorothy Monthy, Sheijnada Reinert and Tracy Dick were the five finalists who had to impress the judges for the Miss Seychelles 2006 crown. They all had to answer one question from by the judges.

The more than three-hour show saw also musical and dance performances by La Mezcla, School of Dance, Marie-Antoinette Dodin and Jean-Marc Volcy.

Also present at the evening was the last recipient of the Miss Seychelles’ crown 1999, Anna-Mary Jorre de Saint Jorre and other international guests.

A representative of the organisers, Ms Lydiane Agathine, said that they were “satisfied with the turnout and participation," adding that  “another pageant will definitely be held next year”.
