Football-Independent School students look forward to Manchester trip |28 July 2005
Boasting so many talented players like Portuguese Ronaldo, Dutch striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy and English centre-back Rio Ferdinand, anyone given the opportunity to see those high profile players in action will surely accept the invitation.
On Thursday August 4, 31 Independent School children will leave the country and head for Manchester to train with the Bobby Charlton Soccer Schools.
During their 13-day stay in Manchester, the players who are expected back on Tuesday August 16, will train with qualified Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and Football Association (FA) coaches, do fitness tests, follow sports psychology sessions and play friendly matches against local youth teams.
The moment the young students are most probably looking forward to is to go and watch Manchester United live against Everton in a Barclays Premiership match on Saturday August 13 at the Goodison Park.
The young students making the trip are: Ryan Domingue, Jean-Philip Esparon, Nicholas Chong Seng, Christopher Rousseau, Jean-François Savy, Michel Hoareau, Daniel Chetty, Dominic Mein, Kurl Elizabeth, Dominic Coopoosamy, Alexander Samson, Mathias Bonne, Jean-Marc Hoareau, Christophe Rassool, Christian Vel, Martin Underwood, Andry Accouche, Laurent Hoareau, Alexander Hoareau, Remy Rassool, Shaun Berlouis, Ron Roucou, Mick Roucou, Alexander Mein, Fabrice Moutia, Dominic Morin, Christophe Lafortune, Jonathan Geers, Sylvainn Finesse, Craig Grandcourt and Richard Mussard.
They will be accompanied by the school’s Physical Education instructors Roger Hoareau, Rolly Philoé and François Jacques as well as some parents.
The school would like to thank all sponsors who helped in making the trip possible.
It is to note that some of the Independent School students who will visit Manchester trained under the Bobby Charlton Soccer School programme for two weeks at the Astro-turf pitch last year under the guidance of British coaches Mark Burton and Christopher Sutherby.
Endorsed by former Manchester United and England star, Sir Bobby Charlton, the football training programme is popular in many countries.
