Seychelles Football Federation (SFF) Youth Cup-St Louis Youth win in style

ST LOUIS YOUTH ... SFF Youth Cup winners

After winning the inaugural 'Play  Soccer, Make Peace' competition last month, St Louis Youth, who are aiming for a clean sweep of all the titles on offer this season, took matters in their own hands from the first whistle.

The first chance of the game fell to St Louis Youth's captain Jean-Paul Adela who skied his shot in the very first minute.

St Louis Youth continued creating most of the chances. In the seventh minute, Don Edward, Trevor Poiret and Fabien Cadeau combined but the latter's shot flew just wide. Five minutes later, Cadeau's shot from outside the penalty area clipped the foot of a post.

Marcus Melanie opened the floodgates in the 20th minute with a beautiful strike from inside the six-yard box. Two minutes later, Archille Henriette played a through ball to Cadeau who went on a slalom run before firing a powerful shot at the near post for a 2-0 lead.

In the 31st minute, Cadeau showed his dribbling ability as he went past three defenders but hit the woodwork.

St Louis Youth though were too much in a hurry to increase their lead as they were caught offside on too many occasions. The Saints missed a third goal in the first frame as Gervais Waye-Hive headed onto the cross-bar a Cadeau deep cross.

The second half again developed into a one-way traffic with St Louis Youth creating most of the opportunities.

They added a third goal in the 65th minute when Henriette beat a  wrongly positioned Sunshine Youth keeper Julio Toulon with a low shot at the far post.

Poiret was on target in the 75th minute to increase his team's lead to 4-0 and four minutes later (79th), Don Edward put the final nail in Sunshine Youth's coffin by slotting home from point blank range.

St Louis Youth's trainer Nigel Hertel was a happy man after the match.
"We are aiming to win all that is on offer this season. I have some very skilful players in the squad and I'm convinced we can achieve the feat. Today's (Saturday) game was easy as we did not encounter any resistance from our opponents," said coach Hertel.
