Chilli Bar & Restaurant goes solar with Sea & Sun Technology |11 October 2013
Nestled on the mountain slope of La Louise, Chilli Bar & Restaurant is positioned perfectly to catch the early morning rays of sun as it rises over Victoria. It is therefore no surprise that the establishment recently signed a contract with Sea & Sun Technology (Seychelles) Ltd, for a 5Kw photovoltaic (PV) system.
Sea & Sun Technology partners with LG Electronics to provide cutting edge monocrystalline panels which are perfect for the tropics as they are resistant to ammonia (i.e. bird poo) and salt spray, and tested against European hail stones (i.e. a bat dropping a heavy mango).
The management of Chilli Bar & Restaurant expects a significantly reduction in their PUC electricity bill, as the 20 photovoltaic panels (PV) will be able to produce enough energy from the sun to cover most of their energy needs.
With the new PUC regulations announced recently, they will be connected directly to the National grid, using PUC to ‘store’ excess energy produced during the day which they will then use at night or on the few days each year when bad weather reduces the effectiveness of the solar panels. The payback-time of the PV system should be approximately three years.
Sea & Sun Technology (http://www.sea-sun-tech.com) is a German-based company with an office in Seychelles and provides an all-inclusive service, from planning your PV project for your home or business, sourcing ISO 9001 certified renewable energy systems from partner organisations, shipping from one source to avoid delays, installations by local technicians as well as a year of monitoring and maintenance.
"We pride ourselves on supplying Seychelles with German quality products and services," says managing director Yves Maurel.
“We feel that we all should work together to reduce our reliance on expensive imported fossil fuels and thus improve our local economy," adds Mr Maurel.
