Boat House restaurant extends to offer more variety and choices |26 August 2013
The Boat House restaurant at Beau Vallon, a very popular eating spot well known for its buffet of exotic Creole dishes, is currently being renovated and extended so as to offer more variety and choices to visitors and customers.
The work is expected to be completed soon, the owner said.
“The aim is to modernise the place, create more space and give it a much cooler and more interesting appearance,” owner Richard Mancienne said.
Mr Mancienne added that a second restaurant on the upper floor is expected to open soon as well.
“This new restaurant will focus more on à la carte menus with more modern dishes and fusion foods,” Mr Mancienne explained.
Fusion food is a general term for the combination of various types of cuisine and comes in several forms. For instance Asian fusion restaurants, which combine the various cuisines of different Asian countries, have become popular in many parts of the world.
Mr Mancienne said the idea is to also introduce some Japanese dishes of mainly raw fish.
On the same floor as the new restaurant, Mr Mancienne said he is planning to have a small art gallery where local artists can showcase their works.
“There again the idea is to help make the place more interesting to both visitors and locals,” Mr Mancienne pointed out.
Last week during President James Michel’s visit to several tourism establishments in the Beau Vallon/ Bel Ombre areas, Mr Mancienne had the opportunity to show the President and his delegation the work underway and discuss his project and future plans.
The Boat House restaurant, opened in 1995, is strategically located very close to the popular Beau Vallon beach and various other large and small tourist establishments.
