IECD launches groundbreaking early learning programme for home-based childcare
By Sunny Esparon
The Institute of Early Childhood Development officially launched its pioneering Early Stimulation and Learning Programme for home-based child care services on Saturday at the STC conference room.
This programme is designed to strengthen Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) nationwide, emphasising the importance of developmentally appropriate, play-based activities that are culturally relevant and engaging. For the first time, an all-inclusive programme focusing on early stimulation and learning for children aged 0-3 has been developed and is now ready for full implementation in 2025.
Following a successful year-long pilot involving comprehensive feedback from trained childminders, the programme has been carefully refined to ensure practicality, effectiveness, and meaningful engagement. It focuses on fostering language, communication, and foundational pre-mathematics skills through vibrant, interactive activities. By integrating locally relevant stories and sustainable materials, the programme also promotes environmental awareness and community participation.
