Seychelles shines at UN STI forum with AI and ocean innovations

The United Nations Headquarters in New York yesterday hosted the opening day of the 10th Multi-stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals. This milestone event, themed ‘Advancing sustainable, inclusive, and evidence-based science and technology solutions and innovations for the 2030 Agenda’, brought together global leaders to address pressing sustainability challenges.
A standout moment was the side event, ‘Early Warning for All: Harnessing AI-Powered Technologies to Strengthen Social Development and Sectoral Resilience’, where Seychelles showcased its innovative approaches to climate resilience and sustainable development. United Nations appointee for Seychelles, Xavier Estico, who serves on the Group of Ten High-level Representatives of Civil Society, Private Sector and Scientific Community to Promote Science, Technology and Innovation for the SDGs (10-Member-Group), highlighted the nation’s leadership as a small island developing state (Sids) in leveraging cutting-edge technologies to tackle climate vulnerabilities and promote sustainable growth.
