SFRSA spreads love to the elderly

The Seychelles Fire and Rescue Services Agency organised a team of volunteers to help restore the outdoor beauty of the old people’s home in La Retraite this week.

The activity on Wednesday February 14, coincided with Valentine’s Day and was spearheaded by the managing director of the lifeguard service, Ralph Agathine and his team, in the presence of home administrator Lindy Roucou.

Mr Agathine said the activity was initiated to coincide with the day dedicated to the spread of love and joy.

“The idea to help out came from our social club, and we thought it was fitting to help people and spread love on Valentine’s Day,” explained Mr Agathine.

The team was made of staff from different sections within the Seychelles Fire and Rescue Services Agency (SFRSA) and the lifeguard team focused on beautifying the yard, by cutting grass and dangerous branches.

The work started at 9.15am and last three hours.

Ms Roucou expressed gratitude towards the SFRSA. “I feel that this was a good initiative. We do have our handyman but it is hard to take care of the whole place at all times, so their help made it easier and made the place more beautiful,” she said.

Ms Roucou also commended the approach which is in line with their objective to get the community to be more involved with the homes for the elderly.

SFRSA plans to continue these voluntary works, which are also considered as team-building exercises.
