Air Seychelles acquires fare comparison revenue management system |09 February 2024

With the aim of maximising revenue, national carrier Air Seychelles has partnered with RateGain to acquire the AirGain platform which provides revenue management systems of airlines and online travel companies.

The partnership, announced earlier this week, will enable the organisation to access real-time price intelligence and rate parity solutions for both domestic and international routes, to better position itself against competitors.

Head of corporate affairs, Louise Testa clarified to Seychelles NATION that fare comparison tools have long been employed in the aviation industry to help revenue management teams with accurate insights about competitor airlines’ fares for forward months. Based on the data, the team can act accordingly by adjusting fare levels or introducing promotions on certain routes if required.

“This system allows us to work more efficiently,” said Mrs Testa.

“Yes, like all systems, they incur a cost.  However, the return on investment is easily measurable,” Mrs Testa stated, clarifying that the tool does not set prices.

Air Seychelles has been utilising the tool for almost a month now, and decided to opt for RateGain as the most economical choice for the company, amongst a multitude of options.

The partnership is on a contractual basis and presently set for a year, subject to renewal.

Air Seychelles currently offers over 300 weekly scheduled flights between Mahe and Praslin, serviced by five DHC6-400 aircrafts. The airline also offers charter flights to other islands within Seychelles on its domestic network.

Two Airbus A320-200 neo service international flights to South Africa, Sri Lanka, Mauritius and India.

The airline was voted the World’s Leading Airline to the Indian Ocean 2023, at the World Travel Awards held in Dubai in December.
