Residents of Mont Buxton will now be more comfortable while waiting for the bus, with a bigger shelter that was given to the district authority yesterday by the Lions Club of Seychelles.

The short handing over ceremony was done in the presence of the elected member for Mont Buxton, Gervais Henrie, chief executive of the Seychelles Land Transport Authority (SLTA) Parinda Herath, representatives from Seychelles Centennial Women Lions Club, zone chairperson Lion Dhana Sasikumar and residents of Mont Buxton.

“This shelter is dedicated to the memory of the late Lion Vijaratnam Sivasupramaniam who was the charter president of the Lions Club of Paradise Seychelles,” explained Gopi Dubasia, president of the Melvin Jones Fellows – Lions of Seychelles.

Mrs Dubasia also thanked SLTA’s chief executive Parinda Herath for fast-tracking the construction of the bus shelter and everyone for giving them the opportunity to help a community.

“Thank you for providing the Lions of Seychelles, which include Leo of Seychelles, Seychelles Centennial Women’s Lions Club of Seychelles, and Melvin Jones Fellows Club, with the opportunity to serve,” said Mrs Dubasia.

On behalf of his office and the residents, Mr Henrie thanked the organisation for the beautiful gesture. “I hope you continue to help other communities.”

The cutting of the ribbon was done by two residents, namely Jorenda Larsen and Jenna Tomkins.

Mr Henrie also made a request for contribution towards their upcoming book  project in the Mont Buxton housing estates.

It should be noted that the Lions of Seychelles recently contributed US $2,000 worth of books to the National Library.
