Triple MoUs provide opportunities for growth   |31 January 2024

The Seychelles Business Studies Academy, The Guy Morel Institute and Air Seychelles gathered at L’Escale Resort Marina & Spa, Roche Caïman yesterday morning to sign three memoranda of understanding.

This was in the presence of the organisations’ board members, chief executive of Air Seychelles Sandy Benoiton, executive director of The Guy Morel Institute (TGMI) Patrick Bristol and the director of Seychelles Business Studies Academy (SBSA) Joanne Bristol.

The first signing was between the SBSA and Air Seychelles, with the former being represented by board vice-chairman Jean Raguin, while Mr Benoiton signed on behalf of Air Seychelles.

The signing is a follow-up to an initial agreement signed in 2019. 

The updated version will help the two parties ease professional development of staff and learners, input in programme development, and work-based experience, among others.

The second signing – a new agreement – was between TGMI and Air Seychelles, and it relates to mutual support and staff professional development.

It was signed by chairperson of TGMI board Conrad Lablache and Mr Benoiton.

The final MoU signed was between TGMI and the SBSA and its main aim is to enable the two institutions to work collaboratively and share ideas and resources.

 It is also to enable graduates of Diploma in Accounting to transition successfully to TGMI under the scholarship scheme to follow ACCA programmes.

 The document was signed by Mr Lablache and Mr Raguin.

Speaking on behalf of Air Seychelles, Mr Benoiton expressed his great delight at the cooperation with the two institutes; one with SBSA, which has been ongoing for a while, and the other being a new partnership.

“This discussion was done since last year and today we finally bear witness to the signing of the MoU, which will help us in our future endeavour,” said the Air Seychelles chief executive.

For his part, Mr Raguin said the occasion was exciting as it was very beneficial to all three partners involved. “Together we can work towards greater heights,” he said.

On behalf of TGMI, Mr Lablache said he was grateful that such agreements exist although it took some time for them to be finalised.

“These MoUs give us the chance to exploit the areas we can most benefit from, by the exchange of expertise,” he said.

The agreements are valid for three years. However all parties agreed they want it to be a continuous one.
