G.S Pillay family donates to Plaisance schools

Mrs Vidot hands over the printerto the Plaisance primary representatives

The Plaisance primary and secondary schools have each received a highly performing printing machine from the family of the late G.S Pillay.

The head teachers for Plaisance primary, Therese Athanase and Plaisance secondary, Jenny Kilindo, received the ‘color Laser Jet Pro MFO M282nw’ printer in a short ceremony at the Plaisance primary school yesterday afternoon.

The printers were presented by Audrey Vidot, the elected member of the Roche Caiman district, on behalf of the family who was abroad.

“These gifts symbolise the Pillay’s family dedication to community welfare, embodying compassion, community and a commitment to positive impact,” said Mrs Vidot.

Both head teachers expressed their gratitude to the family for the gift and their continuous support to the community.

“For us it is a great honour to receive this donation by G.S Pillay family,” said Mrs Athanase, adding the printer will not only be useful to the teachers especially during exam preparations but students as well with their homework. Although the schools are already equipped with a printer, an additional one will help reduce the workload on the old one, they said.

To show their gratitude and thank the G.S Pillay family, the Plaisance Primary Boys Choir performed two songs, followed by a poem recited by a Secondary 5 student Leah Nibourette.

Yesterday’s donation was part of activities to mark the 94th birthday of the late G.S Pillay, which was on January 2, when a new bus shelter was unveiled in the Roche Caiman district.

Mr Pillay passed away in 2014.
