Nouvobanq staff create amazing handmade decorations for Christmas |06 January 2024

 For the past two years, local bank Nouvobanq has been holding its office decoration competition for Christmas, where employees eagerly participated, with the level of creativity increasing each time. Last year was no exception.

Nine out of 22 departments within the bank took part in the competition, which was judged by independent judges who are real artists and the prizes were personally sponsored by members of management and the bank.

Kelly Mothe from the Legal and Complaints department, and the Business Community department revealed their theme revolved around a white Christmas. “We created gingerbread, nutcrackers, Santa's village, the sleigh, and elves, all made from recycled materials such as tires, cans, and coffee capsules. Everyone dedicated their weekends to working on the project.”

The Remediation department, consisting of nine staff members, also showcased impressive decorations using materials found within the bank. “Our stars were crafted from old planners, and we used paint and glitter to enhance our DIY decorations. Old national newspapers and financial books were repurposed, and our Christmas tree was made with a net, while the snowman was crafted from tissue paper,” explained Gretel Adeline.

The winners were announced on December 29, with the star prize of R5,000 being awarded to Legal and Complaints department, while the first prize of R3,000 went to Audit department. The second prize of R2,000 was presented to Remediation and the third prize of R1,000 to Compliance department.

The other departments that took part were Risk Department, Foreign Exchange Department, Cards Department, Customer Service - Corporate Department, and the Finance Department.

According to Corina Andre and Lauraine Etienne from the Corporate Affairs department the activity was another success as it helped to promote the team work spirit among their 120 staff.
