Seychelles NATION has learnt of the passing of former district administrator (DA) for Grand Anse Praslin, Michael Jean-Louis, on Monday December 25, 2023.

Mr Jean-Louis, 51, officially assumed the role of DA for Grand Anse Praslin on May 3, 2021, succeeding DA Moses Barbe. He served as DA for exactly two years and his last day in office was on May 3, 2023.

According to a source from the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs (MLGCA), upon his appointment, Mr Jean-Louis undertook the responsibility of Grand Anse Praslin district administration with the objective of enhancing the well-being of his constituents, upgrading infrastructure and public services, and consequently transforming the district into the jewel it aspires to be.

“His vision encompassed fostering a community of contented individuals diligently contributing to both the local economy and their own quality of life. Renowned for his vivacious personality, Mr Jean-Louis brought energy and dedication to his role as district administrator, leaving a lasting impact on the Grand Anse Praslin community,” the source said.

Before joining the MLGCA, Mr Jean-Louis owned and operated a tour guiding and film production business. His professional background also includes roles as an internal auditor at L’Archipel Hotel and an accounts payable officer at Praslin Beach Hotel. He was born on March 25, 1972.
