Hunt Deltel addresses stevedores’ bonus payment |20 December 2023
Local shipping company, Hunt Deltel has confirmed that the payment of the end-of-year bonus was done as per the company’s stevedore bonus policy.
The company issued a statement yesterday following an incident where a group of stevedores gathered outside the Fleet Logistics Centre building at Zone 14 and later moved to the head office in Victoria, to express their concerns regarding payment of the end-of-year bonus.
Hunt Deltel said it wanted to formally address the event and confirmed that “the bonus, which is performance-based, was paid as per the company’s stevedore bonus policy, which provides a minimum average tonnage per month, which stevedores must achieve to be eligible for the payment of a bonus.”
“The company’s policy has been in place for several years and is clearly communicated to the stevedore workforce at the beginning and during the course of the year,” it added.
Hunt Deltel said in an effort to clarify this matter, the company met with representatives of those expressing their concerns and the bonus policy was clearly explained once again.
Hunt Deltel said it strives to remain compliant and has respected all of its employment obligations under the law.
