African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) Women in Tax Network (AWITN)

Mrs Herminie

Veronique Herminie elected chairperson

Former commissioner of the Seychelles Revenue Commission, Veronique Herminie, is the new chairperson of the board of the African Tax Administration Forum’s Women in Tax Network which is based in Pretoria, South Africa.

She was elected at the board’s meeting on November 23, 2023, held at the back of the ‘Reducing Gender Inequality in Africa’ workshop organised by African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) Women in Tax Network (AWITN) in collaboration with ATAF secretariat and its partners.

Mrs Herminie has been a founding member of the board of AWITN since March 2021. She replaced Dr Amelia Muendane, the president of the Mozambique Revenue Authority, as chairperson of the Board of the AWITN.

The network provides a formal environment for women working in tax and tax-related fields in Africa in different capacity (be it in public or private sector) to raise awareness of the potential impact tax policies may have on gender equality.

It also serves as a support platform at a more individual level to women in tax by facilitating mentoring programmes and other professional development opportunities for leadership.

One of the mentors on programme, Mrs Herminie brings to the board and the network not only her experience in taxation, but also in administration, management and leadership.

She has been very active over the past two-and-a-half-years on the board, participating either as a speaker or moderator at leadership and gender equality conferences.

Over the years, a number of employees of the Seychelles Revenue Commission (SRC) have benefitted from programmes organised by the AWITN and ATAF.

The SRC management has said it hopes to engage more with the network now that one of its own, representing Seychelles, has taken the leadership role.

SRC has also wished Mrs Herminie success in her new added responsibility.
