Employment department and partners host last job fair for 2023

Residents of the eastern side of Mahé had the chance to learn more about the various vacancies on offer in the country through a job and sensitisation fair held at the Anse Aux Pins playing field on Saturday.

A total of 17 agencies and organisations took part in the fourth and last job fair for this year organised by the Ministry of Employment and Social Affairs in partnership with the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs and others partners.

The main objectives of this fair was to give these workplaces a chance to showcase their services to the public, advertise their vacancies and recruit potential workers and to promote the various sectors of the economy.

The employment department had displayed tips to take into account before and during an interview, vacancies within both the public and private sectors as well as its services on boards. Its officers were also there to help those wishing to fill in job application forms.

Several tourism establishments were also there to market their various job offers and packages. Executive chef, Pat Monthy, from Laïla, Seychelles, a Tribute Portfolio Resort located at Anse Royale, said the tourism establishment sees the fair as a great way to bring services closer to the community and a chance to market its many job opportunities.

The director general for employment promotion at the department of employment, Chetina Saunders, said three of such regional fairs were held on Mahé and one on Praslin for the inner islands. Miss Saunders added that 309 job opportunities were on offer on Saturday.

“After these job fairs, we have ensured that we have the continued partnership whereby these organisations give us feedback on the number of applications they have received so that we can also monitor”. We also have registered a number of people which we will refer to various workplaces, she added.

The Minister for Employment and Social Affairs, Patricia Francourt, visited the fair during the day and had the chance to talk to the representatives of the various organisations present.

Organisations that took part in the job fair included Secure R US security firm, Mango House, Canopy by Hilton Seychelles, Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas, the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority, mental health services, the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, Seychelles Revenue Commission and the division for substance abuse prevention, treatment and rehabilitation within the Ministry of Health, among others.
