Successful career day at Plaisance primary

Plaisance primary school celebrated a highly successful Career Day recently; an event mainly for early childhood pupils (Key Stage 1).

Organised by the school, this engaging day saw the young students donning various professional roles, including policemen, chefs, nurses, doctors, firemen, SCAA workers, and SRC employees, among others.

To make things more fun, the parents joined in, wearing their work uniforms to support this interactive learning experience.

Thérèse Athanase, the head teacher of Plaisance primary, commended the pupils, teachers, and parents for their enthusiastic involvement in the event.

“The primary objective of Career Day is to sensitise young learners to the diverse career opportunities within their community. I encourage you children to dream big about your future careers. Since I was a child, I dreamt of becoming a teacher and I worked diligently to realise that dream,” said the head teacher.

Career exploration is an integral part of the school's curriculum, and Career Day serves as an exciting and educational platform for young children to explore various professions, identify their interests, and envision a bright future.

This special day enables the students to interact with professionals from a wide array of fields, gain insights into different careers, and kindle their passion for learning.

It is a valuable experience that inspires young minds and encourages them to pursue their dreams.

Career Day provides a safe and supportive environment for children to investigate diverse professions, ask questions, and uncover their passions.

This early exploration equips them with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions as they progress through their educational journey.

During the event, Sub Inspector Jessica Bonne shared her experience as a member of the Seychelles Police, providing details on what her job entails and which tools she used in her line of work.

The children eagerly asked questions, particularly about the dog unit.

This was followed by songs from both the children and the teachers.

Parents and teachers also actively participated by dressing up in various roles and paraded in front of the students and guests. They all explained the significance of each profession. One parent who is a farmer emphasised the importance of showing an interest in agriculture as no one dressed up like a farmer.

The members of the Seychelles Defence Forces also made a presentation, receiving a warm round of applause from the children.

Additionally, the Brass band's performance was a pivotal moment of the day. A representative from the band explained its purpose and encouraged the children to explore the world of music.

Career Day at Plaisance primary school proved to be an exciting and educational journey, sparking curiosity and ambition in our young pupils as they embark on their paths to success.
