Airtel agrees to sell and recharge SPTC bus cards

The Seychelles Public Transport Corporation (SPTC) and Airtel Seychelles have signed an agreement permitting the telecommunication company to sell and recharge SPTC bus cards for locals and visitors.

The agreement was signed by the chief executive of SPTC, Geffy Zialor, and the managing director of Airtel Seychelles, Eddy Kapuku, in a short ceremony held yesterday morning in the board room at Airtel House, Ile Perseverance. Present were senior staff of both companies.

Locals and visitors will now be able to purchase SPTC bus cards in all 23 outlets of Airtel Seychelles on Mahé, Praslin and La Digue, although SPTC does not offer a bus service on the latter.

With regard to reloading of the bus cards, services on Mahé is currently available at Airtel’s shop located at the Seychelles Airport. However, recharging of bus cards services will for the time being be available as from November 13, 2023 at the Airtel shops in Victoria and Anse Royale.

On Praslin, the reloading services will be accessibly at ERO Passenger Terminal at Baie Ste Anne and the Diamond Plaza at Grand Anse, also as from Monday, November 13, 2023.

Mr Zialor expressed the company’s appreciation towards Airtel Seychelles as a strategic partner for considering to assist them in modernising and upgrading their customer service delivery. He noted the SPTC customer service improvement, including its bus ticketing system, is part of the company’s five-year strategic plan 2020 to 2025, and they are proud to have a key partner like Airtel Seychelles to accompany them on the journey.The corporation turned cashless last July.

For his part, Mr Kapuku said that Airtel Seychelles was happy and honoured to be part of the team driving innovation in the country, especially with regard to its digitalization programme, which will enhance and ease the lives of citizens. He noted that partnering with SPTC to sell and reload bus cards will also give customers access to their network for other purposes. He added that Airtel will, in collaboration with SPTC, come out with new products in future to further benefit customers.
