‘Let’s give our teachers the accolade and respect they deserve,’ says United Seychelles president   |05 October 2023

“United Seychelles salutes all teachers on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day 2023 for their commitment, passion and dedication in shaping our younger generation for the future.

“Teaching is a noble profession but it is one faced with many challenges as expectations of students and parents grow with the ever changing environment we operate in. Our ageing population have an impact across different professions but most importantly on teaching and nursing.

“We must ensure the continuous professional development of our teachers and provide the

encouragement for not only retention of teachers but for others to join the profession.

“Seychelles is not the only country which had to recruit teachers from elsewhere and this year’s theme focuses on bringing attention to the shortage of teachers globally.

“On this day, we should reflect on what changes we can bring to the education system in this new digital era and how we as parents could also step up in educating our children.

“Let us give our teachers who work tirelessly to ensure doors remain open for our further education and career progression, the accolade and respect they deserve. Let us reciprocate the love, and attention they give to our children.

“United Seychelles wishes all teachers a Happy International Teachers Day and all the encouragement they deserve in their profession.”
