The ambassador of the Russian Federation to Seychelles, Artem Kozhin, has paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Roger Mancienne.

Hon. Mancienne was accompanied by Hon. Wallace Cosgrow, Hon. Phillip Arissol, and the Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly, Alexandria Faure.

Ambassador Kozhin was accompanied by the Deputy Head of Mission Counsellor Alexander Odoevskiy.

The ambassador stated that the main purpose of the courtesy call was to thank the National Assembly, in particular Hon. Cosgrow and Hon. Arissol for their recent visit to Russia to attend the ‘Russia-Africa in a Multipolar World’ conference which was held in Moscow.

Ambassador Kozhin expressed that it was a highly successful event, with over 40 delegations from across Africa participating.

It was noted that Hon. Cosgrow and Hon. Arissol contributed actively and presented a very positive impression of Seychelles.

Hon. Cosgrow commented that his experience in Moscow was pleasant, and that the conference had been relevant economically and geopolitically.

He stated that “the discussions that took place were varied and provided for a very enriching experience”. Hon. Arissol echoed the sentiment, noting that he had taken time to visit various sports facilities and was impressed by the standards maintained in the city.

A special congratulations was extended to Hon. Mancienne for his appointment as President of SADC PF, with the ambassador remarking that Seychelles is steadily increasing its visibility on a global level.

Hon. Mancienne expressed that despite its size, Seychelles is developing a notable voice in the geopolitical sphere and is an actively participatory country globally.
