Employment department investigates claims of non-payment by foreign workers |28 March 2023

The department of Employment has said that necessary enforcement procedures for claims of alleged non-payment of salary for ten non-Seychellois workers are under way at the Employment Tribunal.

In a press statement yesterday, the department said the case involving the ten non-Seychellois workers who were residing at Hermitage, was investigated.

“Following all facts gathered in an investigation undertaken, the case was assessed and in consideration of internal policies of the Employment department, majority of the workers involved have been transferred to other working organisations who were in the process of seeking approval to employ non-Seychellois workers with the department,” read the press release.

The case of the workers from Unicorn Metals Ltd featured in a recent television report on SBC TV.
