New appointments under the Ministry of Transport |05 January 2023

The Ministry of Transport has appointed Geffy Zialor as acting chief executive of the Seychelles Public Transport Corporation (SPTC).

The ministry has also appointed a new Harbour Master and deputy Harbour Master within the Seychelles Ports Authority (SPA). The new Harbour Master is Captain Mudiyanselage Avantha Udeni and the deputy Harbour Master is Captain Jean-Paul Fanchette.

The appointments follow the approval by the President of the Republic, Wavel Ramkalawan.

Mr Zialor was the chief operations manager within the SPTC prior to taking up his new post. He replaces Patrick Vel, who retired recently after serving as chief executive of SPTC for the last six years.

The appointment is in line with Section 18, Cap 221 of the Seychelles Public Transport Corporation Decree (1977).

The new Harbour Master, Captain Udeni, is not only an experienced Harbour Master but also a University Lecturer from Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Captain Fanchette will be an understudy during the duration of his contract, and is subject to take up the Harbour Master post in future.

The appointments of the two captains are for a period of two years.
