IFL organises third food donation fair |27 September 2022

The International Friendship League in collaboration with the Seychelles Community Training Institute and the Seychelles Sustainable Tourism Foundation organised a third food donation fair under the theme ‘Don't Waste, Eat!’

This event took place during the weekend at the Seychelles Community Training Institute (Secti) building at Roche Caïman.

Chairperson of the International Friendship League (IFL), Marie-Nella Azemia, explained that the IFL is here to promote friendship within the community and help each other.

“The main objective of the event is that of showing support to under-privileged and vulnerable people in communities as well as educating people on how to divert food that is fit for consumption not to go to the landfill,” said Mrs Azemia.

For this event, several businesses especially hotels and individuals had been contacted for donations as it was done for the past two editions and some items received were wet products such as canned food and sauce; fruits and vegetables and dry food such as bread, pastries, floor, rice, lentils, spices, etc.

Mrs Azemia noted that to make this event a success, the IFL requested all district administrators to send a list of people in their respective district who are receiving welfare benefits and a few vulnerable ones who they think should be the ones to benefit from the donation.
