Vijay International School students celebrate A-Level success

Students from the Vijay International School, Praslin (VISP) were once again celebrating this week, following the publication of A-Level results.

Although the most recent academic year was relatively uninterrupted by Covid closures, these graduating students have had to contend with many disruptions to their learning due to Covid over the past 2 years.

Given that the A-Level is a two-year course, students have therefore had to develop significant independent learning skills and their final grades are a tribute to their exceptional hard work during this difficult time.

A-Level results were again excellent with 76% of grades being awarded at C or better and 40% of students being awarded A or A*.

Phineas Samraj was the highest achieving A2 Level student, having been awarded three A* grades at A2 level along with two further A grades at AS Level.

Noah Labuschagne and Nathan Ernesta were also high achievers, both securing one A* and two A grades at A2 Level.

The first year A-Level students performed well in their AS examinations, an important building block towards their final A2 exam results. Some outstanding individual successes were also recorded with most notably Ingrid Morel scoring three A grades and one C grade. This class still has a year to go but their results thus far indicate the high expectations they should have for the future.

Head teacher Mark Howell paid tribute to the work ethic of these students, adding that they should be proud of the difficult circumstances they have overcome.

“Once again, students from VISP have excelled in their advanced level studies, allowing them to move on to high quality further education establishments around the world. This cohort of students have secured places at top universities in England, Netherlands, USA and India and this is all down to their hard work and dedication. In particular, these students have had to overcome the adversity of Covid and have therefore developed enhanced independent learning skills. They should therefore be well prepared for further education and the world of work.”

Places at VISP are still available for September in some classes, including IGCSE and A-Level classes and enrolment is taking place now. Please email Head teacher Mark Howell at mhowell@visp-sey.com for any further details about the school.
