Jessy Joseph first Seychellois to hold Front Office manager position at North Island

Seychellois Jessy Joseph has been promoted to Front Office manager at the North Island resort, making it the first time that North Island has seen the localisation of this position.

The following press release from North Island retraces Jessy’s journey with the resort since 2020 to date.

“Having started her career in hospitality 10 years ago, Jessy Joseph, a Seychellois from the Anse Etoile district, joined North Island, a Luxury Collection Resort, in 2020 to take on the role of Guest Experience Host in the Front Office department.

“Bringing years of experience with her, Jessy quickly fell into her role with confidence and ease. “Marriott, as a company, is very focused on ensuring local talent and future leaders are given every opportunity for career development, and here at North Island, a Luxury Collection Resort, we bring that to life.

“Jessy successfully completed her certificate study in F&B, followed by Advanced Certificate in Reception and Operations at the STA (Seychelles Tourism Academy). Since beginning her journey in hospitality, she has fallen in love with the industry and would encourage other young Seychellois to follow her lead, saying ‘you will never know your full potential until you give it a try’.

“Jessy has always shown a passion for growth and development, and when the opportunity arose for her to take on the position of Head Guest Relations last year, she jumped at the chance, committing to a detailed 6-month development plan led and supported by our hotel manager Nicolas Louys. This plan, which localised the position, consisted of various areas of development including attending the newly launched ‘Leadership Essentials’ training programme for existing and emerging leaders at North Island from February to May 2022, cross-exposure with numerous departments, extended training in finance and reservations and other great learning and development opportunities on her continued development path. This development plan encompassed various key focus areas that Marriott and North Island are fully committed to in terms of associate development opportunities, especially for local talent.

“Now, we are delighted to share the official promotion of Jessy to the role of Front Office manager, which we all know will be another amazing step in Jessy’s career growth in hospitality and specifically here as a member of the North Island and Marriott leadership team in Seychelles. This now sees the position localised for the first time by a young and passionate female Seychellois leader here at North Island.
