SLTA continues to improve road infrastructure on Praslin

The Ministry of Transport in collaboration with the Seychelles Land Transport Agency have said that resurfacing work of both primary and secondary roads on Praslin officially resumed on March 30, 2022.

Work began early in the morning on the Consolation road, starting at the Coco-de- mer hotel and is meant to reach all the way to Chateau de Feuilles hotel when completed.

It is to be noted that this is not a new project, instead it is a continuation of the Seychelles Land Transport Agency’s (SLTA) intent to resurface all primary and secondary roads on Praslin, aimed at improving its maximum possible road infrastructure.

The project was put on hold in late 2020 as SLTA was encountering few delays in shipment of material due to Covid-19 impacts, and also because the shift had to be done in order to cater to a few priority works requested by the government of Seychelles such as work at the new jetty.

Regardless, work is now back on track and is expected to be completed in around three or four months if there are no major setback.

This particular resurfacing project is expected to be done on approximately 3.5km of road, a significant value for Praslin island given its size, and it will most importantly improve commute between Grand Anse Praslin and Baie Ste Anne.

The accompanying photos show work in progress on various road infrastructure on Praslin.
